The childcare, next to the simple housework, is a part of the au pair´s main duties. That means that the au pair plays games with the children and helps them with homework. Besides, the au pair accompanies the children to the school, to the kindergarten, to the free time activities or to other events. She/he makes also somehow nearer her/his culture and language to them. Au pairs are, however, no language teachers.

The au pair, in accordance with the child´s age, can it, as en example, also help to tidy its room. The au pair can wash the children´s dress and prepare a simple food for them. The au pair can also once or twice in a week serve as a babysitter in the evening. The babysitting is in this case already included in the working time schedule.
