For au pairs from the EU who would like to work as an au pair in another EU country it is valid: Who is insured by a legal health insurance the performances can be principally claimed within the EU too.

As a rule the performances cover „a practical basic medical treatment“, only. However, the basic treatment in different countries is not of the same standard. It can be compensated by an additional au pair´s insurance which also offers additional performances, like a sick person´s home return transportation.

It is, however, always recommended by us to conclude the au pair´s health insurance. The costs of such insurance are borne by the host family.
