The childcare besides the simple housework is included in the au pair´s main duties. It means that the au pair plays games with children and helps them with their homework. Beside that the au pair accompanies children to the school, to the kindergarten, to free time activities or to other events. She/he brings also her/his own culture a little bit nearer to them. Au pairs are, however, no language teachers.

Depending on the children´s age she/he helps them also with such activities like for example to tidy their own room. She/he washes the children´s dresses and prepares simple food for them. Once or twice in a week in the evening the au pair looks after the children as a babysitter. The babysitting is at the same time included in the working time, already.

Discuss together before the stay which duties can be expected by the au pair. The duties and dates can be for example fixed in a time schedule by you.
