Contents of the work
First of all your au pair is responsible for the childcare of your family. In addition to that she/he takes over small household activities. You should make clear with her/him in advance what exactly belongs to your au pair´s duties. You can fix your agreement in an au pair´s contract.

There are no official regulations in Italy concerning the au pairs´pocket money. Based on our experience we recommend to host families a monthly pocket money amounting to 300 €.

In addition to the pocket money your au pair to be receives from you a free board and lodging. Food and accommodation are at the au pair´s disposal also in the case of her/his of illness.

In Italy the host family and the au pair can flexibly mutually agree on how many hours in a week the au pair will work. Generally it applies to the following: An au pair may work totally not more than 30 hours/week. These 30 hours should be divided into 6 days in a week as a maximum. Furthermore it is important: An au pair may not work more than 5 hours a day, including the babysitting.

Your au pair must have sufficient free time and a chance to attend a language course. Costs for the language course are borne by the au pair herself/himself. Because you are more familiar with your town it would be net if you assist your au pair in finding a suitable language course.
